Choosing an app

A note taking app you buy once, with no subscription

Mementa Notebook is $4.99, paid once. You own it: no subscription, no locked features, and every future update included. Try it first with the Microsoft Store's 7 day free trial.

One price, once

Subscriptions make sense for some software. For a notebook you write in every day, plenty of people would rather pay once and be done, and know the app will still be there next year without another charge.

Mementa is sold the old way. You buy it, and it is yours.

What $4.99 gets you

Everything. There is one version and no tiers:

  • all four pens, the eraser, the Knife, shapes, text and Arc, Mementa's radial pen menu
  • handwriting to text and search through your handwriting, on your own PC
  • the Sticker Book, sticker peeling, templates and layers
  • the PDF, comic and EPUB readers, with highlights
  • Book Mode, export to PDF, PNG, JPG, CBZ and EPUB, and portable notebook files
  • every update from here on

There is no subscription and there never will be one. The purchase goes through the Microsoft Store, and Microsoft keeps it with your Microsoft account.

Why it can cost so little

Mementa does not keep your notes on a server, so there is no cloud bill being passed on to you. Your notebooks live in a folder on your own PC, recognition runs on your own processor, and search reads an index on your own disk. The app does its work where you are. See local first storage.

Owning it means your files too

Paying once only means something if your work is not locked in. Mementa's notebooks are ordinary files in your own folder. Export any of them to PDF or images at any time, or move one to another PC as a single portable file. If you ever stop using Mementa, your notebooks are still there. See export.

The one thing that costs more

Printed books are separate, because each one is printed and shipped to you. You only pay for a book when you order one, and you see the exact total before you pay. In the US, a softcover starts from $20 and a hardcover from $34, with shipping included. See printed books.

If you got it early

If you acquired Mementa before the paid launch, you already own it and will never be asked to pay.
